Donated Commissions

This page shows some of the pieces that have been donated to organizations for auction or raffle prizes.

Window Scene #1 (2003), Jean M. JuddThis quilt was made for a Silent Auction in 2003. The white panes of the window were hand appliqued. The entire quilt was hand quilted and hand bound. The size of the piece is 48"x64". The backing is traditional, unbleached muslin. It is signed and dated by the artist.

Loon or Golf Course? (2002), Jean M. JuddThis was my first and probably only attempt at doing a Landscape Quilt. I had a wonderful photograph of a picturesque hole from one of the nation's top golf courses on the East Coast. Out of respect for this course, I will not mention the name here as my rendition does not in any way represent the beauty of this course.

By the time I was finished hand appliqueing the pieces, the finished landscape looked more like a loon floating on a lake to me than a depiction of a golf hole, so the name became Loon or Golf? and the border has hand quilted loon silhouettes and golfballs on a tee. Birds in the distance were also hand quilted into the sky along with clouds.

Sampler Quilt (1998), Jean M. JuddThis quilt was made in 1998 as a raffle quilt for the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity. It is a Sampler quilt with Christmas fabrics. It is entirely hand quilted and is 90x108 inches.

The proceeds were used materials for a new house built in 2000. A second quilt that was a lap size (40x60) was also raffled off at a later time but no photo exists of that quilt and I have no record of what that one brought the organization.

Challenge Trip Around the World (1997), Jean M. JuddThis wall hanging was made for a challenge in 1997 for the annual quilt show. Unfortunately it didn't meet all of the requirements -- it was 3 inches too large so it was not entered in the Challenge. It is hand quilted along each seam. The binding is pieced using up the remmants from the other fabrics.

This piece was instead autioned off in 1998 in a Silent Auction benefiting the local battered women's shelter.
